After 10+2, what are the available courses after 12th in pharmacy field?

Pharmacy is one the most popular field among the students. Education in pharmacy varies from one country to another. In India, the academic courses in the field of pharmacy starts from diploma level to doctoral level.

Career Scope & Job Opportunity in Pharmacy field are huge. Diverse job opportunities are available in front of Diploma in Pharmacy certificate holders. Government and private sector job opportunities are available in front of them. Due to the opening of large pharmaceutical companies, the future in the field of pharmacy is bright. Numerous jobs are available for pharmacists in government and private organizations. After completing your studies, you can easily find jobs in pharmaceutical industries, government departments, colleges and universities, hospitals, investigation and research institute etc. Pharmacists can practice in community pharmacies, hospitals and regulatory agencies. Sales & Marketing job sector also hires maximum number of pharmacy graduates.

After registering with the state Pharmacy Council, D Pharma certificate holders may even start their own private drug store! To thrive in such a venture, one must have access to decent financial resources and entrepreneurship skills.

Pharmaceutical companies are also known to hire D Pharma folks. In this sector, they may work at divisions/sections like - manufacturing, process control, quality control and marketing.

Talking about marketing sector, one may work for firms involved in pharmaceutical products marketing other than working right after completing D Pharma course, one may also go for further studies (B Pharma, D Pharma, M. Pharma etc). After completing Master's level course, one may take up the job of a lecture/ tutor/ instructor at relevant pharmacy schools or institutes.

D. PHARMA. (Diploma in Pharmacy)

Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma) is two year diploma course, and approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Pharmacy council of India (PCI) New Delhi and affiliated to Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.

First of all, let us know "What is Pharmacy?"

The world pharmacy is derived from the word "Pharma". This word had first been used in the 15th-17th century. "Pharmacy is the branch of health science that deals with the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. This science uses principles of health science, biology and chemical science to create, dispense and to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs.

It enables the students to develops strong foundations in bio-science and related subjects simultaneously improving their applicability in the various stages in medicine discovery and production. A perfectly conducive learning atmosphere has unique integration of the ingredients suiting the requirements of contemporary pharmacy education scenario.

B. PHARMA. (Bachelor in Pharmacy)

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma.) is four year degree course, and approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Pharmacy council of India (PCI) New Delhi and affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam technical University, Lucknow.

Pharmacy is a science in encompasses the applied knowledge of various subjects like Medicine from plants, animals and minerals sources (Pharmacognosy), Pharmaceutics, Medicinal chemistry, Biochemistry, Drug designing, Pharmacology, Drug discovery, Bioinformatics and Drug analysis etc. The emphasis on transferable as well as specialized skills will also equip the graduates with qualities to enter a range of other professions. The four-year curriculum has been divided into 8 semesters and include lectures, tutorials, practicals, seminars and projects in addition to industrial training and educational tour etc. as defined in the schemes of instructions and examinations and executives instructions issued by the University from time to time. The curriculum will also include such other curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as prescribed by the University form time to time.
